At the Monday night City Council meeting the vote was unanimous—both the rezone and the Wood Trails/Montevallo plats were voted down!
The tally was:
Our grateful thanks go to our City Council members. They reviewed our documents. They listened to our comments. They stood up for what was fair and right for the citizens of Wellington, the R-1 area, and indeed all of Woodinville. We do not want high-density developers twisting the numbers and telling us our opinions and quality of life don’t matter.
We are thrilled with the outcome. But, while we have been thrifty, such victories cost money. Now, more than ever, we need your financial support to the tune of thousands of dollars to cover recent legal costs.
The developers will fight this decision tooth-and-nail, starting immediately. They will call in chips from politicians in King County. They will appeal the City’s findings, dragging us through ever more red tape, although due to last night’s decision much will be the responsibility of the City.
This is a huge step, but not the last. We have shown our logic to be better than just squeaking by, all seven Council members agreed. We have been fighting long and hard. The future of our neighborhood is still less than secure.
Please vote wisely in the primary August 21st. And further show your support by sharing the financial benefits from retention of R-1.
