Parents know name-calling is a fact of childhood. It's a pity, though, when adults resort to it. A prime example was a lengthy article on page 26 of the July 6, 2007, Puget Sound Business Journal.
John Erdman, director of the Woodinville Chamber of Commerce and former director of the Master Builders Association, commented in the Journal article that "meddling [Woodinville] residents have taken it upon themselves to poke into every nook and cranny looking for perceived corruption and irregularities."
With regard to his attempt to rezone and build high-density housing in our neighborhood, Larry Sundquist is quoted as saying, "This is probably the most obnoxious, ridiculous set of procedures that we have ever gone through."
This mudslinging by Erdman and Sundquist was unbecoming. CNW has always taken the high road and proven itself to be articulate, well-prepared, and adult in its dealings. We are exercising our rights as citizens to hold our government accountable and to represent our wishes, nothing more and nothing less.
The article also contained quotes by Jeff Glickman, President of CNW, and Dave Henry, also a CNW member, attempting to be rational about this conflict. Both men are Wellington residents and running for Woodinville City Council on a platform of concern over government accountability to our community.
Keep supporting CNW and your neighbors who give of their precious family time and funds to keep the rezone and developments at bay. Make a monetary donation toward our legal costs which continue to mount. Attend the City Council meeting August 6th. Register and vote in the upcoming primary and elections for City Council.
CNW will hold a general meeting on Wednesday at 7 PM in the downtown Woodinville Fire House for all current and prospective CNW members (no press or developers). This meeting will address the current status of Wood Trails and Montevallo proposed developments planned for just down our streets. Recent media stories have erred in their reporting of this issue as decided, in fact the battle is far from over! These misunderstandings will be cleared up at this meeting.
For three years CNW has gone head-to-head with developers who would change our lovely neighborhood without consulting us. These efforts have taken thousands of volunteer hours and neighbor donations. With the legal battle just beginning, your donations are needed more than ever.
Meet your neighbors. Make a difference. Become informed about the immediate and future opportunities for action. Be a part of the decisions being made right now by City Council which will set the future course for our neighborhood for years to come. Advocate for our community, our children, and our environment.
New neighbors and members will be encouraged to ask questions. We want everyone to know how and why this issue is critical. We want you to feel a part of our wonderful community and eager to support CNW's efforts.
