Supreme Court Will Review Our Issue

Barred Owl

On July 6, 2010, after six years’ work, our community’s concerns were accepted to be heard by the Supreme Court of the State of Washington. This decision could set the standard for not only our small area but also for growth in the entire state—many eyes are on the outcome.

The Supreme Court will receive the entire record from the Court of Appeals.  Within thirty days after acceptance of review, any party may file a supplemental brief, not exceeding twenty pages in length.  Both CNW and the City of Woodinville will submit such briefs. The matter will then be put on the Court's calendar for oral argument. After this the Court will, at some point in the following 6-12 months, render a decision. For more information please see the Supreme Court Website.

We should all take particular pride in our grassroots-community persistence to defeat efforts by a developer to permanently alter our neighborhood over the years. R-1 is worth protecting. We thank the dozens of people who have dedicated their time and money to help over this last half decade!

We don’t want houses crammed into tiny lots. We don't need more cars and trucks. We don't need more crime. We don't need or want speed bumps to control a large traffic increase. We do want to preserve our space, our environment, our neighborhood.

Please understand, this has come at a tremendous financial cost, along with six years of hard work by many people who believe in protecting our neighborhood. We have done much fundraising but we need more money. In this economic climate many of us are hurting. That said, we really are talking about the neighborhood’s survival. City living, country style!!

We will have several fundraising events in late July and August and we will keep you informed.
