Which Do You Want?

Now is the time to speak up and be involved! We are in the final hours of battle to save our neighborhood character!

3 years ago, the Concerned Neighbors of Wellington (CNW) was formed to hold off the destruction of our peaceful and quiet R1 zoned neighborhood into an R4 zoned eyesore. We are staring straight down the barrel of 132 new homes on lots as small as 5000 sq ft effectively doubling our neighborhood population.

WHAT’S AT STAKE?
  • Quality of life – triple the traffic threatening our children and pets, crowded schools, pollution, forced sewer hook up at $15k - $35k, loss of wildlife and the quiet that we now enjoy.
  • Neighborhood Character – This is big folks. Once R4 is introduced our neighborhood could be subdivided piece by piece. We forever lose why we moved here in the first place.
  • Home Values – If you place a $350,000 home in a neighborhood of $600,000 homes – who gains? The value of the $350,000 home goes up but not the $600,000 homes – they go down.
WHY NOW?
  • The Public Hearing is scheduled for: March 14th at 7pm and March 15th at 6 pm at the Carol Edwards Center, 17401 133rd Ave NE. The Hearing Examiner will review the Final Environment Impact Statement (FEIS) and your verbal comments to make a final recommendation to the City Council.

  • This is the last chance to make your concerns heard! Please be there to show neighborhood strength, and to make your comments before the Hearing Examiner.

  • If you submitted comments to the DEIS, you need to review the FEIS to make sure your comments were addressed adequately. Restate your comments at the hearing. This is your right by law.
  • Also please submit your comments by email no later than March 15 to Susie McCann, Development Services Department at susiem@ci.woodinville.wa.us.
  • Some issues to bring up when commenting on the FEIS:
    • Inadequate Environmental evaluation of wetlands, steep slopes, pollution, etc
    • Inadequate road designs and traffic mitigation
    • Loss of trees and displacing indigenous wildlife
HOW CAN
YOU HELP?
  • Spread the word—to your neighbors, at school, or with the CNW team by phone or foot
  • Come to the Public Hearing on March 14-15 from 7 pm to 10 pm
  • Please contribute $250 to CNW. This money is used for legal and expert advice
Most of us regularly make home improvements and do maintenance. We update our appliances and do landscaping as an investment in our homes. This should be considered as another investment that preserves the long-term value of your home. Please send your check today to:
